Kapil Sharma's meteoric rise to success has been the stuff, fairytales are made of. From being a stand-up comedian on a show to bagging a film, Kapil Sharma has indeed come a very long way. However, the climb to the top wasn't easy at all for the actor. He had his fair share of trials and tribulations before becoming the success story that he has. Let's take a look at Kapil's journey so far...

Kapil Sharma's trials and tribulations

Fire at Kapil Sharma's edit office: Kapil Sharma's edit office, which is located in a building at Andheri, was gutted with fire recently. Though there were no casualties reported, the team seemed concerned about the video footage of the show which were lying in the office. The mishap took place on July 18, 2014 at 9:30 am but the news reached the Comedy Nights With Kapil team at 11 am. The incident took place exactly a year after the Comedy Nights With Kapil's set had caught fire and turned into ashes.

Twitter fight with Kamal R Khan: The most controversial actor of Deshdrohi and Bigg Boss fame, Kamaal R Khan is known for his controversial statements and Twitter fights. Like Bipasha Basu, Shah Rukh Khan, Rakhi Sawant and few others, the controversial king also got into a huge Twitter war with funnyman Kapil Sharma. Though after a certain period of time, Kapil stopped responding to KRK's tweets, KRK didn't stop.

Out of 'Bank Chor': Funny man Kapil Sharma, who was all set to make his Bollywood debut as an actor with Yash Raj Films’ thriller-comedy Bank Chor, will no longer be a part of the big banner film. In a recent development, Yash Raj Films and Kapil Sharma decided to part ways mutually. The film will now go on the floors without the comedian. The YRF management team issued a statement saying, “We will look forward to working together in future when the time is right.” Needless to say, this sudden development has upset many of his fans.

Fire on the sets: It was dreadful when a fire broke out on the sets of Comedy Nights With Kapil. The fire gutted down the sets entirely and though there wasn't any casualty reported, the sets had to be erected again. However, for the time being, Kapil and his fictional family had to shoot the episodes of the show on the sets of Bigg Boss

Sunil Grover aka Gutthi's exit: Sunil Grover aka Gutthi's exit from Comedy Nights With Kapil was an epic controversy that made headlines. Apparently, Sunil Grover demanded a raise in his pay package for the show which was not acceptable to the makers. In the heat of the moment, Sunil decided to quit the show and hosted a show called Mad In India on a rival channel. However, unfortunately the show didn't do well and Sunil returned to be a part of Kapil's team again.

Tax evasion: Sharma was also dragged into an alleged tax evasion case last year soon after the massive fire. Reports suggested that Sharma didn't pay his dues that ran up to Rs 60 lakh. However, the comedian held a press conference to clarify that, though delayed, the payment had been made.

Show cause notice from Women Commision: One of Kapil's many jokes about pregnant women didn't go down well with an NGO and they filed a complaint against him with the Maharastra State Commission for Women. During one of his acts, Kapil joked that one of the advantages of having roads with potholes is that travelling on such a stretch can help a poor, pregnant woman pop out the baby.

Pay to watch the show: Trying to cash in on the show's fame, a group of miscreants cheated several people who wanted to appear on the show as members of the audience. The group allegedly duped many asking money in return for a chance to be a part of the show. The show then started running a disclaimer that warned the audience against registering with such groups.

Narendra Modi retweet: Kapil, who shared politician Narendra Modi's tweet, was slammed by fans and critics, who alleged that he was taking sides. Narendra Modi on Sunday tweeted, "The way Rahul Baba is making statements with a dash of comedy in them, I think the TV show of Kapil Sharma may soon have to shut shop." Obviously pleased by the fact that such a senior politician knows about his show Comedy Nights With Kapil, the TV actor shared Modi's tweet and created a furore on the micro-blogging site. Kapil had to delete his tweet to avoid further damage.

CCL fiasco and tantrum -throwing: Kapil Sharma was allegedly paid a whopping Rs 1.25 crore for the Celebrity Cricket League but soon news of him walking out of the CCL on the first day itself appeared. According to Mid-day, an eyewitness said that Kapil and his staff threw tantrums at the venue, leaving the event organisers furious.
